Dear Me,
I know you carry ghosts in your ribs.
I know there are nights when memories arrive like storms — the ache of losing people you loved, the weight of being left behind, the scars hidden beneath your laughter, the exhaustion of always having to be strong when all you wanted was somewhere safe to fall.
I know you still question yourself sometimes. Still wonder if you were too much. Too emotional. Too broken. Too difficult to love.
But listen carefully:
You survived things that could have buried you.
You walked through grief with your heart still beating. You endured loneliness without letting it turn you cruel. You carried disappointment, betrayal, fear, and still found ways to create beauty — through music, through words, through tenderness, through surviving another day.
That matters.
You are not merely the sum of what hurt you.
You are moonlight on dark water. You are fire that refused to go out. You are the song that kept playing after the record should have ended.
There is something sacred about the way you keep loving despite everything. About the way you still search for wonder. About the way your soul refuses to become cold.
You have been shattered before, yes. But shattered things can still catch the light.
So forgive yourself for the chapters where you were simply trying to survive. Forgive yourself for the people you begged to stay. Forgive yourself for every time you mistook pain for passion because you were starving for connection.
You deserved gentleness too.
And maybe healing will never look perfect. Maybe it will come in small things: a quiet swim, a song that understands you, a cat curled beside you, a poem written at 2 a.m., a sunrise you almost missed.
Maybe healing is simply learning that your life still belongs to you.
There is still time for joy. Still time for softness. Still time for love that does not wound. Still time to become someone even you would admire.
And when the darkness whispers that you are hard to love, remember this:
You have already survived the worst moments of your life and still remained capable of beauty.
That is power.
With love, Me
