Today’s poetry prompt:
Views from a closed box
Martha's contribution:
I sit in my closed box alone
No one recognizing I have grown.
They dismiss me like a child
Dismiss my temperament as mild.
I watch those whom I love the most
From the safety of my box that's almost closed.
They are happy when I am not around
So I stay in my box, not making a sound.
They do not care about me at all
So in my box I make myself small.
All I want is their love but am denied
So alone I sit in my closed box and cried.
- Inspired by my childhood trauma
