Why blame Eve? She’s a Hero

Everyone knows the story...

The narrative of the Book of Genesis places the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) in a garden where they may eat the fruit of many trees but are forbidden by God to eat from the "tree of knowledge of good and evil".

And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. - Genesis 2:16–17

In Genesis 3, a serpent tempts the woman:

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil. - Genesis 3:4–5

Desiring this wisdom, the woman eats the forbidden fruit and gives some to the man who also eats it. They become aware of their "nakedness" and make fig-leaf clothes, and hide themselves when God approaches. God curses The Serpent, The Woman then The Man, and expels the Man and Woman from the garden and thereby from eternal life.


So the Bible says.

But why?

Why was it a "SIN" or "FORBIDDEN" to eat from the tree of knowledge? to become SELF AWARE? to learn? to grow?

When I was a little girl, I always thought this was one of the most confusing parts of the Bible. God doesn't want his people to grow or learn. He doesn't want them to have knowledge. He wants them to be blind sheep following his every word and teaching and NOT QUESTION anything. That sounds like a dictatorship in a way... and I always questioned it... even as a child.

If God "LOVES" his children, why not wish for them to know everything they can know, experience everything they can experience? Why limit them at all?

As I grew older I saw religion for what it was (a way to control the masses and herd sheep) but it wasn't until today that a thought crossed my mind...

WHY WAS EVE THE BAD PERSON IN THIS STORY?

Why was Eve blamed for Adam's decision to eat the fruit? She didn't MAKE him. She didn't twist his arm. He did it of his own free will. Yet, Eve (a woman) gets blamed for man making his own free will choice and mistake.

Isn't that like men? To always blame women?

I think sometimes the Bible is OBVIOUS in it's one-sided-ness to show women as the gateway to "evil". Women shouldn't "tempt" men. Women shouldn't speak their minds. Women should "OBEY".

Why?

We are free people right? Why should a woman obey when men get free reign to do as they please according to this book from "GOD"?!?!?

Why did this book subjugate women into thinking we are the lesser of the species?

Why are men always trying to put women beneath them?

Why are WOMEN always blamed for the "EVILS" of man?

Can man not take responsibility for his own actions? Or does he love to see women PUNISHED for his stupidity?

Think about it ladies. Women have always been told we are the LESSER of our species. Perhaps they fear us because we are the ones who turn the tide. We take the forbidden fruit. We want the knowledge. While men, men just want to remain HERDED sheep.

Perhaps Eve is the HERO of this story. Eve took the first step and said she wasn't going to be told what to do. That she would NOT remain a mindless victim. Someone who bowed and stayed oblivious to the world. Eve said "NO" and took the fruit. She wanted the knowledge. She took the fruit. She ate it.

But you say "Oh MARTHA that's where Eve was wrong. God told her not to."

Why is she obeying God? Why listen to someone LIMITING you? Someone telling you what to do? Someone BOSSING you around? What gave him the authority over Eve?

NOTHING. 

Eve was aware of the choice she made. She didn't chose wrong. Because of Eve's choice we are free to chose ourselves. Yet many of us remain in the dark. Still herded like sheep because we are following something else that tries to make us into something we are NOT.

Women are more powerful than we know. 

We are not cattle. We are not sheep. WE CAN NOT BE HERDED and WE CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED.

When Eve took that apple she showed every woman to follow what we SHOULD do. We should pluck our OWN apple of knowledge and come back STRONG. Show the world you are a WOMAN and can't be told what to think or what to do.

The bible is a book written by MEN to control the masses. You need to think beyond the book. Think beyond what you've been told. If you continue to let the book control you, to let men control you, to let everything hold you back... you will NEVER be free.

You will have failed Eve.

Eve took that chance to show all of us our potential.

Don't squander her lesson or her sacrifice.

Free yourselves. 

Think for yourselves.

The world needs women to rise up before it's too late.
